Valheim 1.0.14: Keybindings, accessibility, performance and bug fixes
Released: 17 Sept 2026 - Official source
Checked against the official notes on 29 Sept 2026
Everything below comes from the studio’s patch notes for 1.0.14 (see the official source link above), summarised and not quoted. The notes say the patch takes a few days to reach every platform, with crossplay still working, so the date above is the announcement date.
Quality of life
- More keyboard rebinding options: an alternate dodge key, hotbar rebinding on top of 1-8, rebinding of the radial wheel, and removing keybinds.
- An accessibility setting to toggle blocking, and a gameplay setting to skip the intro cinematic.
- Attacks now also turn the player towards the attack direction when “attack towards look direction” is on.
- Gamepad: Sheath returns to its original keybind, and Motion Sensor moves to the alt key plus Sheath.
Optimizations
- Better GPU performance with tessellation off, more accurate and cheaper heightmap shadows, fewer overdraw costs from main-menu particles, and several GPU improvements on Switch 2.
Fixes worth knowing
- Deep North battleaxes now have the right tool tier and can cut every tree.
- Placeable boulders persist, only place on the ground, break if their ground goes away, and give ground-level support.
- The Ballista accepts all new trophies (every Deep North enemy, Bjorn and Vile).
- Jotun puffs and Magecaps no longer respawn.
- Multiplayer: characters now save correctly when pressing Save on someone else’s server; disabling biome-data caching fixes a state that made joining remote servers impossible; terrain changes by players or monsters no longer cause performance and portal problems, seams or undone edits.
- Achievements: “No time for snoozing” can unlock in multiplayer; The Homesteader and The Architect no longer unlock repeatedly.
- The notes also list music fixes, collider tweaks, item-origin (“cheated”) flag fixes and platform-specific fixes for Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Steam Cloud.

The notes do not mention any change to food values. Food values on this site come from community wikis and are unaffected by this entry.
